News flash! Last minute costumes don’t have to be (too) basic or expensive!! Keep reading for some costume inspo for the upcoming Halloweekend!
I won’t sit here and lie to you all. I am not a last minute girlie when it comes to Halloween. In regards to most other things… I am the self-proclaimed queen of procrastination. Halloween however, is a different ball game. Something about it really lights a fire under my butt, and I often end up conceptualizing costumes months (in a few instances, YEARS) ahead. I’m a woman with a vision ok?! Sue me;) (get it… Sue Sylvester was actually one of those costumes I’d wanted to do for years). Anywho… enough yapping! Time for the main event: Costumes that do not require years worth of planning, that are still cute, and semi not basic (and who cares if they are OK? Basic is still cool).

The Last Minute Ladybug
A tribute to my tiny good luck ladybug tattoo if you will! Guys!! This costume is actually tooo easy. If you’re a Canadian (which I’m assuming you are because not very many people actually read this blog) then you know that Dollarama has become the hookup for all things Halloween in recent years. I was literally there yesterday and yes… the Christmas decor is already out. More importantly however, I did spot (pun intended) this exact set of ladybug wings! As for the rest of the outfit, it can quite litterally be made up of anything you have in your closet! It doesn’t even have to look anything like the example I’ve provided. Make it your own!! You could even be a yellow or orange lady bug if you really wanted (those do get a bad rap as I believe they bite…).

A Simple Strawberry Shortcake
I am in no way implying that Strawberry shortcake is ‘simple’, but this costume sure is!! Once again… Dollarama to the rescue with the green socks. I saw a very similar pair there yesterday, that would be perfect for this look! I’m aware that not everyone may currently be in possession of gingham shorts or a red bucket hat/strawberry earrings. This is where you can get creative! Comb through your local thrift stores and second hand shops or get down & dirty with some DIYs! This could definitely take some time, so I wouldn’t recommend leaving this costume to the actual last second. However, all things considered, with the help of some friends and their closets, + a thrift trip or two… this cute costume should be fairly easy to achieve!

Eeyore Made Easy
This is honestly my favourite costume edit that I’ve made thus far!! I wish that I wasn’t working this upcoming weekend, or I would definitely be dressing up as Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh! Navy blue may be a bit tricky to find on such short notice, so once again I’d suggest checking out the thrift for some similar pieces. I did get some inspo for the pink bow on the back of the mini skirt from a creator on TikTok. I think it’s so adorable, and really helps to tie in Eeyor’s vibe. Finally, the ears may prove to be a more difficult find, so I would encourage checking Amazon, Halloween stores like Spirit, or even considering making them yourself! Crafting felt, a headband, and some hot glue can go a long way, trust me!

TY Beanie Baby (NOT basic edition)
I’ve seen this costume done a few times now & it’s sooo cute, I just couldn’t resist!! Once again, I tried to stick with the ‘could be found in your own, or a friends closet’ theme! Hopefully this costume could be created with different variations of brown tops & bottoms from your own wardrobe, making it relatively free (girl math, duh)!! The other fun part that helps to make this costume so easy & cost effective, is how many variations of Beanie Babies there are! You don’t even have to be a bear if you so choose! Just print out a ‘TY’ tag, like the one pictured, and stick it on somewhere to get your point across! This costume might be especially nostalgic for our 90s-early 2000s babies so be safe out there people ;).

The Party Animal… A.K.A The ‘I have one cheetah print top in my closet & made it work on short notice but its still cute so lets pretend I never told you this’
Ok so you’ve caught me. I told a lie. I may have said earlier that I never do last minute costumes. Well, I guess that’s not entirely true. In my defence, I wore this on vacation to a ‘Halloween in August’ party (so fun), and didn’t exactly have months (I’m joking ok) to prepare. While I have now seen this costume all over the internet and I am sure it will be quite popular this Halloween… I stand by this look! It gives an element of fun, dare I say HOT 🫣🫣 & can be put together on a moments notice. You can’t see what I’m wearing on my feet, so let it be known that I did pair this look with black heeled boots. I hope to see at least one person I know wearing something similar because I am obsessed!!!
Thanks to everyone who made it to the end!! Hugs and kisses to you all xoxoxo. I have been trying to be more consistent with blogging now that I’m getting into a better groove with my new job. This may even mean another Halloween post that I have planned for the upcoming weekend… stay tuned! To those consistent few of you that I see viewing my posts, THANK YOU❤️ Writing has been an outlet for me since I was a little kid & getting creative with this blog has been so much fun!!! I look forwards for what the future holds:)
