Moving back in with my parents after graduation has been quite the culture shock. Not only did I say goodbye to my freedom (the drama), my 5 roommates/surrogate siblings, & our cozy student house… I was forced to give up my wonderful & very spacious double door closet (🥲). Feel free to ask any of the [ex (cry)] roommates… that closet space was used to the max!! I’ve had to do some serious downsizing over the past several months, which has been devastating, but also very necessary.
Now that I’m back living with my parents in my hometown, I have begun to feel the ‘small closet growing pains’ (If you couldn’t already tell, I am not just referring to my closet). While I am immensely grateful for my parents, my new job, my wonderful boyfriend & friends etc. the post-grad, early twenty’s, ‘wtf am I supposed to be doing with myself’ blues have definitely set in. However, It's not all doom, gloom, and melodramatics around here, okay people?!
In a time of uncertainty where I lack control, I’ve decided to take some back, and try new things! So far, I’ve tested out a few workout classes (Pilates is NOT for the weak), made some fashion TikTok’s (including a closet clean out series… the irony), got a haircut, and drumroll please… gave the blog a well deserved✨face-lift✨!! When I started StyledByMVig a few years ago in hopes of living my SATC, Carrie Bradshaw, fashionista dreams, I didn’t have many profound goals and aspirations for where I wanted to take things! To be honest, I’ve mainly used this as a space for my word-vomit ramblings about seasonal trends and fashion inspo. While that is pretty much the same direction I will be taking things in terms of content, I wanted to give the blog a little makeover in celebration of this new season of my life (so cheesy I cannot).
Firstly, starting with the name. StyledByMVig just wasn’t doing it for me anymore… enter, Small Closet. Big Dreams. I mean… it’s true, I do have a small closet, and very big dreams! As for the site design, I chose to use some pictures I took of my very own, small closet! While you may be thinking, “Mya… you’re so dramatic, that closet’s not tiny at all”, that’s where you’d be wrong. The silver lining is however, that I’m making it work, & definitely saving myself some money in the long run!
Thanks so much to those of you who stuck around!! I really appreciate anyone who reads this thing!!! Without further adieu, I present to you, Small Closet. Big Dreams. I hope you enjoy this next chapter as much as I do❤️.
